Reference Manager 10 Network Version, from ISI ResearchSoft, is a major upgrade that now offers the same dynamic features as the single-user version
These include: enhanced integration with Microsoft Word, new ways to store links to web-based research and direct access to ISI Web of Science. Unique to this network version are links from Reference Manager to two powerful new research tools increasingly found on users' desktops: data visualisation software and the OpenURL standard.

Wherever the document goes, the references travel with it ready for colleagues to add, delete and reformat citations in the same document.
Reference Manager 10 Network Version now has four dedicated fields in each reference for storing links to full-text documents, PDF files, image files and more.
The linked information can be stored on the Internet or on any accessible hard drive or network server for quick retrieval and review.
Additional improvements include expanded linkages to the ISI Web of Knowledge platform and over 150 new content files, including output styles, import filters and connection files, making it easier to connect to and import data from a wide variety of online sources.
Users of the network version are now able to access their OmniViz Pro software directly through the Reference Manager interface.
OmniViz Pro, the only available data visualisation program that can analyse both textual and numeric information in the same framework, provides users with a visual interpretation of their reference data, allowing for easy recognition of relevant trends and patterns within this data.
Through implementation of the OpenURL standard in Reference Manager, if a site has installed a link server such as the SFX server, then from each reference users will have access to a host of related, virtual links that allow them to navigate between independently supported online databases.
This technology of linking databases to each other at the document level enables Reference Manager to become a powerful linking service of scholarly information.
Reference Manager is supplied and supported in the UK by Adept Scientific.

Delmia joins in with Airbus development
Delmia has joined the team developing the new A380, Airbus's 21st century super jumbo
After initial contracts were signed at the beginning of 2001 and following intensive talks during CeBIT last March, Airbus and Delmia started planning their joint venture in earnest. Final contracts were signed in July, and the first simulations have just been completed. The scope of services being provided by Delmia is considerable.

For the final Airbus assembly work in its new Hamburg plant, the company, which is a subsidiary of Dassault Systemes, will take on tasks such as the material flow, ergonomics simulations and assembly studies.
'Delmia tools will be used mainly for the simulation and visualisation of the critical procedures, some of which result from the fact that components from four different European sites must be assembled at Hamburg', said Detlev Homilius, Delmia's branch office manager in Bodenheim, near Mainz.
As an illustration, the virtual factory models of the gigantic lifting platforms, must take account of the extraordinary demands placed on the ergonomics of each workstation, as well as the kinematics of the aircraft.

Imerys goes to Supply Chain Management by Internet
The Pigments and Additives Group of Imerys Minerals is working with Dedicated.engines to improve its supply chain management systems across its European operations using Internet technologies
The Pigments and Additives Group of Imerys Minerals Ltd (formerly ECC International) is working with Dedicated.engines to improve its supply chain management systems across its European operations using Internet technologies. Imerys recognises that stock replenishment represents a non-value added activity for its customers and sees a mutual benefit in reducing this overhead.

Water treatment site monitored live on internet
Dedicated.engines are able to demonstrate the live monitoring over the Internet of a water treatment site at Moa Point, New Zealand, owned and operated by the UK company, Anglian Water
The 'Supply Chain Management by Internet' system from Dedicated.engines will allow Imerys to automate its bulk mineral supply chain to its customers.
Once the web site is configured, the business process can be reduced so that there is no day-to-day involvement by the end user of the bulk minerals and the mineral producer.
Data Capture hardware installed at the customer's site streams bulk storage tank levels to the Internet Web Site Server, where Imerys can set re-order levels via data entry directly onto a dynamic web page.
Once the bulk storage tanks hit the re-order level, the third-party haulage contractor receives automatic notification that a delivery is due.
Early warning allows the haulage contractor to plan his tanker logistics in a cost-effective manner.
Tank levels at each customer's site can be viewed by the delivery tanker on a WAP phone.
This system represents a great leap forward for Imerys and its customers.
Currently, bulk storage tank levels are monitored by Imerys' customers themselves.
Many customers require multiple mineral deliveries every week.
The new system will assist the customers by initially allowing Imerys to directly monitor the bulk tank levels for the customers, thus side-stepping the customer's current labour intensive task and avoiding the need for their purchasing department to raise individual orders several times each week.
Imerys views customer service as paramount and the provision of this new service to its customers is a strategic step in customer service enhancement.

Upgrade for large assembly process planning system
Delmia has announced the launch of its Version 5 Release 5 of Delmia Digital Manufacturing Solutions, the process planning solution for large complex assemblies such as aircraft
Delmia has announced the launch of its Version 5 Release 5 (V5R5) of Delmia Digital Manufacturing Solutions. The V5R5 release provides many enhancements to the previously released DPM for Assembly. The new release is a process planning solution for the creation, validation and documentation of the detailed manufacturing processes for large complex assemblies such as aircraft, naval ships and submarines, and cars.

DPM V5R5 is a geometry based solution with the ability to link and view the product data from any major CAD system, author and view the assembly sequences and processes and link each process step to the manufacturing resources utilising a single, unified user interface.
The assembly process and links to the product and resource data are stored in The Delmia Manufacturing Hub, a shared database of Product, Process and Resource (PPR) information.
It contains a library of process 'best practices' to facilitate reuse and a catalogue of the manufacturing resources that can be assigned to each process step with a mouse click.
The value of this process library is that it contains constraints, precedence and actual performance data that are based on previous experiences.
The process planner and manufacturing engineers can begin to develop the sequence of operations before the product design is complete, reusing best practices whenever possible, and assigning resources such as tooling, fixtures and labour to each process step, determining throughput and estimating cost.
